Pub owners Pat and Mary Cremin have announced via social media that, after 30 years of being in business, they've decided to sell Kielys pub in the Dublin suburb of Donnybrook.
In a statement posted on the pub's official Facebook account, Mary Cremin wrote, "It took a lot of soul searching to make this decision as we have had 30 wonderful years in Donnybrook and made life long friends not just in Ireland but across the world. We want to thank everyone for your support in that time and especially our hard working staff."
In its three decades of trading, Kiely's has gained fame for its association with the exploits of fictional Irish rugby enthusiast, Ross O'Carroll-Kelly, whose official Twitter page responded to the news of the pub's closure with a post reading, "I am devastated today. Such wonderful hosts. Borred me many times over the years but always let me back in. It really is the end of an era."
While the Cremins did not divulge an exact date for the pub's closure, they added on Facebook that they still "expect to be around for several months yet".
