Marco Pierre White Opens Second Irish Restaurant

The renowned three-time Michelin star chef officially opened up his second Irish eatery yesterday, The Marco Pierre White Courtyard Bar & Grill.

Describing his new Donnybrook venture as a "nice sister" of his city-centre Dawson Street establishment, the celebrity chef says that it will offer "affordable glamour".

"It's not trying to be a Michelin-star restaurant. It's a neighbourhood restaurant," he told the Irish Independent.

Despite this being the "official opening" of the restaurant, the establishment actually opened its doors last week, and so far has been very busy.

At the opening, Pierre White said that the restaurant business in Dublin is currently booming.

"If you look at Dublin as a city, the restaurant sector is booming. It's expanding," he said.

"It gives you insight into the people. They are not depressed. Even though things may be tough, they are enjoying themselves."

The chef also made headlines in the UK yesterday by saying that British pub landlords can save themselves from financial doom, by offering better food.

Pubs across the UK are calling last orders at an alarming rate with an average of 16 watering holes shutting their doors per week.
