McDonald's Profits Rise 12.3% in Ireland

Fast food chain McDonalds have witnessed a pre-tax profit rise of 12.3% in Ireland over the year.

The company revealed accounts that showed profit after tax increased to €12.7 million as sales rose 4.3% to €81.35 million. Employment also increased by 211 workers during the same period.

"2012 represents a very solid performance across our Irish operations, despite the challenging economic backdrop and a declining market for informal eating out," McDonald's Restaurants of Ireland managing director Adrian Crean told the Irish Independent.

"We've continued to grow our business by investing in our restaurants, listening to our customers and delivering a quality proposition at an affordable price point."

McDonald's is the third-largest multinational employer in Ireland, operating 84 restaurants here, with more than 4,000 employees.
