McDonald's To Scale Back Irish Head Office Operations

It's being reported that Fast food chain McDonald's is set to scale back its head office operations in Ireland in favour of managing business in the Republic from the UK.

According to the Sunday Independent, managing director of the company's Irish business, Adrian Crean, will be stepping down from his position this month, with sources saying that he will not be replaced.

A spokeswoman for McDonald's stated: "In a planned restructuring, operations at the Dublin office are being scaled back. We are currently in a consultation process with our employees and are not able to give specific details while the new corporate structure is being finalised."

McDonald's currently employs approximately 5,000 people across 92 outlets in Ireland. Its Irish operation has been judged to be one of the most successful in the world, with pre-tax profits amounting to €14 million in 2015 following a 5% increase in revenues to €85 million.
