New Dublin Poitín Pop-Up Enlist The Aid Of Alan McGillivary

A new Poitín pop-up dubbed 1661 has opened in the Berlin café on Dublin's Dame Lane and will operate until Saturday November 25.

Dublinlive.com reports that for the next four weeks, the pop-up will be employing the skills of well-known Irish bartender, Alan McGillivary.

Commenting on McGillivary's involvement in the pop-up, founder Dave Mulligan said, "We don’t have many of his pedigree, I had to get him in and was delighted when he jumped at the opportunity to be involved. I take it as a compliment for what we are trying to achieve that we can attract the likes of Alan to the bar."

Mulligan went on to assert, "We are taking a risk with so many menu changes in such a short period of time, especially after the first was so well received. Fortunately we didn’t really have any other option with so many seasonal ingredients available let alone the growing amount of Poitín’s to choose from. With the team assembled, I’m not worried, Alan is now one of the most experienced bartenders in the country and we are lucky to have him."
