New €3m Cruise Ship To Service Aran Islands From May

The family that runs Doolin2Aran Ferries on Ireland's west coast has commission a new €3 million, 26-metre "cruise ship", which will sail from Doolin to the Aran Islands and offer cruises around the Cliffs of Moher following its launch in May of this year.

The ship, which is being constructed by OCEA Shipbuilding of La Rochelle, France, will be the fastest of its type operating on the Irish coast, with its purchase being said to be the "biggest single private transport infrastructure investment on the Wild Atlantic Way", as reported by The Irish Independent.

Commenting on the new ship, Eugene Garrihy of Dollin2Aran Ferries said, "We're really looking forward to its completion and getting it back here. There'll be nothing like it for tourists heading out from the west coast."

The as-yet-unnamed vessel will seat 200 and feature air conditioning and an advanced computerised stability system.
