New Mediterranean Restaurant On The Way For Belfast

Work commenced today (7 December) on a new Mediterranean food restaurant in Belfast owned by Northern Irish restaurateur Tony O'Neill.

Located on St. Anne's Square, O'Neill told The Belfast Telegraph that he hopes to open the so-called Buba Restaurant in late January, explaining that he wants it "to be quite relaxed.

"At the start, it will only be open in the evenings, but open quite late. It will be serving food from small plates along the theme of Middle Eastern, Turkish, Mediterranean and North African food," he added.

O'Neill, who formerly served as executive chef at Belfast's Merchant Hotel as well as previously running Northern Ireland's Bartali and Il Pirata restaurants, has also applied for an alcohol licence for Buba under a new company called Buba Restaurants Ltd.
