Northern Ireland Showcased To Spanish Travel Writers

Spanish travel bloggers have been investigating Northern Ireland after arriving on the new easyJet flight from Valencia to Belfast.

The three writers, who have a combined audience of over 675,000 followers, have been visiting Northern Ireland as guests of Tourism Ireland and Tourism NI.

The visiting group includes journalist Elena Morales, travel blogger Victor Rodrigo and travel/food blogger Veronica Martinez. The aim of the visit is to highlight the new direct flight from Valencia to Belfast to their audiences, as well as some of the many things to see and do on a holiday in Northern Ireland.

Barbara Wood, Tourism Ireland’s Manager Spain, said, “Tourism Ireland was delighted to invite these influencers to Northern Ireland to experience for themselves some of the many great things to see and do here. Visits like this are an invaluable part of our overall promotional programme, helping to get positive exposure for Northern Ireland through digital media and radio in Spain.”

Spanish Tourism

In 2017, more than 46,000 Spanish visitors travelled to Northern Ireland, which was an increase of 9% on the previous year. It is expected that The new easyJet flight will help grow both leisure and business travel from Spain to Northern Ireland, making it easier for prospective holidaymakers to get here.

Woods added, “We look forward to working with easyJet, to maximise the promotion of, and drive demand for, this new service and to continue to grow Spanish visitor numbers to Northern Ireland.”

The group’s itinerary included a tour of Belfast, with visits to the Titanic Quarter, the Ulster Museum and St George’s Market, as well as a trip along the Causeway Coastal Route to experience the Giant’s Causeway, Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge and the Dark Hedges. They also journeyed to the walled city of Derry, where they partook in a walking tour, taking in the Tower Museum, as well as brunch in the City Hotel’s newly opened rooftop garden.
