OpenTable Reservation Service Now Available Via Facebook Messenger

Online restaurant reservation service OpenTable has launched an extension on Facebook Messenger that allows users to reserve seats at more than 40,000 venues worldwide via the popular chat app.

As reported by eatoutmagazine.co.uk, company senior vice president of strategy Catherine Porter hopes that "this service helps diners more easily collaborate on dining plans by sharing restaurant suggestions and coordinating a reservation all in one place."

Porter believes that because eating out is "inherently social" and so many people use social media sites to make plans with friends, offering access to Opentable through one of the world's most prominent messaging apps "is a natural extension of this behaviour enabling them to plan and book together."

You can access the service for yourself by opening Facebook Messenger and clicking on the chat extensions icon on the bottom left of the screen.
