Operating Losses Lessen At Doonbeg's Trump Hotel And Golf Resort

Joe Russell, general manager of the Trump International Hotel and Golf Links in Doonbeg, Co. Clare, has revealed that the venue's operating losses dropped to approximately €100,000 in 2018 as revenues rose 7% to €11.4 million.

Last year's €100,000 operating loss represented a 70% decrease on the €330,030 operating loss recorded for 2017. Meanwhile, the rise in revenues was attributed to a combination of accommodation income increasing by 3%, green fee income increasing by 13% and an 18% rise in food and beverage.

Trump Organisation Investment

Russell also revealed that the Trump Organisation has invested €40 million, including the purchase price, in the venue since acquiring it in 2014. The Irish Independent quotes Russell as saying, "The Trump Organisation investment and involvement has supported and improved the business overall, allowing for a year-on-year increase each year to our best year of trading in 2018 since opening full facilities in 2006."
