Panti Bar Reports Big Surge In Profits

Profits at Panti Bar, one of Ireland's leading LGBT bars, have nearly doubled for the year to €173,400, up from €82,290 in 2014.

The bar, which opened in November 2007, is co-owned by Rory O'Neill, known as Panti Bliss, and publican and restaurateur Jay Bourke. It saw an increase in employees from 10 to 18 with staff costs rising from €319,101 to €368,085 in 2015, reports The Irish Independent.

According to newly-filed accounts for the Capel Street bar, Panty Bar Ltd reported accumulated profits of €205,359 and its cash pile nearly tripled from €50,342 to €143,679.

The bar recently faced planning objections over its LED-lit Pantibar sign, however An Bord Pléanala ultimately ruled that it could remain in place saying that "the sign is integral to the social, historical and cultural significance of the current use of the premises" reports Thejournal.ie.
