Permission Sought To Replace Dublin's Twilfit House With 218-Bedroom Hotel

Abarta Investments, which is associated with investment group SW3 Capital, has applied for planning permission to demolish Twilfit House at the junction of Dublin's Jervis and Upper Abbey Streets and construct a €19.3 million eight-storey hotel in its place.

According to The Irish Times, if given the green light, a new 9,205 square metre building comprised of a 1,207 square metre gym and 7,998 square metre, 218-bedroom hotel will be erected on the site of the existing 3,405 square metre premises. The hotel would also include extensive ground-floor bar and restaurant facilities.

The proposed building has been designed by architects working for The O'Toole Partnership (TOTP), who assert that the active street frontage afforded by the ground-floor bar and restaurant facilities combined with Dublin City Council's plans to revamp the adjacent Wolfe Tone Park will "energise the area".

The designs submitted by TOTP are for a modern building with a facade featuring a fusion of light-stone, floor-to-ceiling glazing and bronze screening.
