Planning Approved For New 178-Bedroom Dublin Hotel
MKN Property Group and Tifco Ltd. have been given the green light to proceed with the development of a new €40 million, 178-bedroom, six-storey hotel at Portobello in Dublin, despite objections raised by local residents.
According to The Irish Independent, Dublin City Council's planner's report indicated that the applicants proposed a marginal reduction in the height of the hotel, with the planner stating that the proposed alterations "are considered to be an acceptable design approach in terms of setting and character of the area", meaning that "the proposed development would not adversely affect the character and setting of the street scape, and would not seriously injure the amenity of property in the vicinity".
Almost 60 objections were lodged against the proposal before its approval and while the project has been given the go ahead, Portobello residents are still entitled to appeal the council's decision to An Bord Pleanála.
