Planning Permission Approved For New 158-Bedroom Dublin Hotel

The O'Callaghan hotel group has been been granted permission to proceed with the development of a new eight-storey 158-bedroom hotel on Dublin's Cumberland Street.

Residential Concerns

An Bord Pleanála approved plans for the hotel despite objections from local residents who argued that the proposed hotel would add an additional hotel complex to a confined space that is saturated with three existing hotels and an area with significant Airbnb usage, as reported by The Irish Independent.

Residents also expressed concerns that the hotel's construction could have a significant adverse impact on people living in the area and that, when operational, the hotel could cause disturbances late at night.

However, An Bord Pleanála ruled that the proposal would not adversely impact the area visually or negatively affect the area's amenities or residential properties.
