New Coffee Shop Called Bean In The City Opens In Belfast
A new coffee shop called Bean in the City has opened in Belfast.
As reported by The Irish News, Bean in the City is located next to Belfast's Victoria Square, and has been opened by Shane and Pauline Hughes, who previously opened a venue called Bean at the Beach in Portrush in Co. Antrim in July of last year.
Bean in the City occupies a former retail unit next to Thorntons on Belfast's William Street South, and, according to The Irish News, employs 12 people, including seven former Thortons employees who lost their jobs at Thorntons following the chocolate company's decision earlier this year to close all of its outlets in Northern Ireland due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Pauline Hughes Statements
Pauline Hughes reportedly said that Bean in the City was delighted to employ the seven former Thorntons employees.
The Irish News quotes her as saying, "Whilst the pandemic has been very hard on business, we are really pleased we can play our part to create more opportunities for employment here, and build on the success of Bean at the Beach, our first business venture."
Pauline Hughes reportedly said that Bean in the City's location next to Victoria Square offers the venue significant footfall.
The Irish News quotes her as saying, "It's so close to retail and businesses that we are here for donuts and coffee from morning meetings through to grabbing and going at the end of the day.
"The business focus is really clear - we create excellent doughnuts and fabulous coffee. It's as simple as that, and we do it as sustainably as possible."
