Northern Irish Coffee Shop Chain Bob & Berts Opens Its First Outlet In England; Planning To Open Additional Outlets In Northern Ireland This Year

Northern Irish coffee shop chain Bob & Berts has opened a new outlet in Lancaster in England, which is its first outlet in England, and is also planning to open new outlets in Kendal and Preston in England this month and next month.

As reported by The Belfast Telegraph, Bob & Berts was founded by Colin McClean in 2013 and has 14 outlets across Northern Ireland as well as five in Scotland.

McClean Statement

The Belfast Telegraph quotes McClean as saying, "We've been shaking up the coffee shop industry everywhere with our simple commitment to serving customers proper coffee and great grub.

"We're delighted to launch Bob & Berts into England for the first time. We carefully select each of our locations and we're confident the people of Lancaster will love what we have to offer."

Director Statements

The Belfast Telegraph quotes Bob & Berts director David Fergsuon as saying that the company has used the COVID-19 pandemic to "innovate and find new ways to keep serving our customers."

Ferguson reportedly added, "The development of our app and online system [to allow customers to order coffee for collection or delivery] presents long-term opportunities that we hope to develop even as we welcome customers back to our stores.

"There's no doubt that the last 15 months have been incredibly challenging for everyone in hospitality. With all of our stores in Northern Ireland now fully reopened, the team at Bob & Berts are excited to welcome our customers back.

"Safety measures such as floor markings, till screens and social distancing will still be in place, but we look forward to giving them the experience they’ve been missing for so long."

Sales

According to The Belfast Telegraph, Bob and Berts' sales hit £8.3 million prior to the pandemic, and the company said that its sales during the 12 month period that ended on June 30, 2019, reflected like-for-like growth and new openings.

New Northern Ireland Outlets

According to The Irish News, Bob & Berts has also confirmed that it will open additional outlets in Northern Ireland before the end of this year.
