Permission Sought To Create Development Including Restaurant At Co. Armagh's Former Gilford Mill
Permission is being sought to create a development that would include a restaurant at Co. Armagh's former Gilford Mill.
As reported by The Irish News, the developer behind a £6 million bid to redevelop the former mill, the Karl Group, has submitted a planning application that proposes the creation a mixed-used scheme that would include a restaurant, apartments and a garden centre and restaurant.
Acquisition, Masterplan And Pre-Planning Consultation
Muckamore-based Karl Group reportedly acquired the 20-acre site in 2016, and a masterplan was reportedly originally created in 2017, before the developer reportedly carried out a pre-planning consultation earlier this year.
A Significant Step Forward
The project has reportedly now taken a significant step forward via the lodging of a full planning application now with Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council.
If approved, the creation of the proposed development would reportedly involve the conversion and extension of the vacant mill building to provide a ground floor garden centre, a first floor restaurant, 28 residential apartments over floors two to six, a rooftop garden, and a children's activity area.
