Clonmel-based drinks manufacturer Robert A. Merry & Co. has announced that it has invested €2.5 million in new production and warehousing facilities in the last year, and is now preparing for new phase of international growth.

The investment in new warehousing, refurbishments and a new bottling line has increased the company’s hourly bottling capacity to 15,500 units.

Added to that, Merrys Irish Cream Liqueur, the company’s flagship brand, has undergone an extensive redesign that seeks to emphasise the product’s award-winning taste as well as its Irish heritage. The redesign has also been applied to the company’s other cream liqueurs.

Don Crowley, General Manager and Master Blender at Merrys, stated: “We hope that our new livery tells this story and that it reflects the quality of what is inside the bottle. We also hope that it will appeal to our loyal customers throughout the world as well as to those who have yet to taste it.”

Bord Bia supported the redesign, and its Category Manager, Denise Murphy, commented: “In the highly competitive category of cream liqueurs, survival is dependent on constant innovation and maintaining a fresh, contemporary appeal.

“Merrys have continuously invested in research and development, and keep the consumer’s perspective front-of-mind in decision-making. This approach ensures not just survival, but success,” she added.

Merrys currently exports to over 20 countries and recently won a tender to supply its Merrys White Chocolate Liqueur to 346 state-run liquor shops in Sweden. It supplies a range of retailers including Walmart, Tesco, and Aldi.

The rebranding was designed by Begley Hutton Design Consultants, Dublin.
