Scotland Yard Hotel HQ To Be Turned Into Luxury Hotel

The former Great Scotland Yard in Whitehall, London is to be converted into a luxury 5-star hotel and is expected to open in 2016.

Property developers Galliard Group have given the go ahead to transform the old building into a 7-storey hotel with 235 rooms, a restaurant , a bar and conference facilities for 120 delegates.

The site was the headquarters Metropolitan Police from 1829 to 1890 and was made famous by Charles Dickens and Arthur Conan Doyle stories and for investigating Jack the Ripper murders.

The expected cost of redeveloping the Grade II listed building is £100 million. VIP suits and will be priced up to £10,000 a night rendering it the most expensive hotel in London.
