Stobart Air Appoints New Chairman
Aer Lingus Regional operators Stobart Air has appointed Andrew Tinkler, its group chief executive, as chairman of its Irish company.
The appointment comes as it was announced last week that former chairman Tim Jeans had stepped down from his position. The Irish Times reports that the Tinkler's recruitment to the job signals an increase in boardroom tensions at the airline.
In a statement released by the company, Tinkler was announced, adding: “The airline continues to enjoy strong growth and as part of our development strategy, we are exploring investment options.” The airline has been the subject of much speculation regarding its future over the last couple of years.
It is believed that Stobart's chief executive, Sean Brogan, has received backing for a management buy-out for the airline, however Stobart also may want to take control of the airline by buying out its shareholders.
