The Temple Bar area of Dublin has been labelled by American website The Huffington Post as "an overpriced tourist trap", and included in a list of the '10 most most disappointing destinations in the world'.
The online news aggregator, which is one of America's most popular websites for news and blogs, pulled no punches in its description of the city centre location, describing it a place to avoid "at all costs".
"A prime example of the rampant fleecing of drunken tourists that should be avoided at all costs," which caters to visitors "competing to see how drake they can get".
"Seek out a pub literally anywhere else in Dublin for a better experience," it says.
Thankfully, the Huffington Post is far kinder in its appraisal of the rest of Dublin, where it describes the City's "gorgeous architecture…renowned colleges and green spaces".
The nine other destinations to make the list are: Gibraltar; Niagara Falls, New York; Hollywood, California; Nassau, Bahamas; Liberty Island, New York; Frankfurt, Germany; Walt Disney World, Florida; Casablanca, Morocco and Las Vegas, Nevada.
