Titanic Belfast, which opened in March 2012, welcomed its 500,000th visitor on 18 September. Lord Mayor of Belfast Gavin Robinson highlighted this success as a result of the efforts put into the sight by Titanic Belfast’s chief executive Tim Husbands and his team: “To get 500,000 people through the doors of an interpretive centre, which was but a dream ten years ago, I think is a huge, significant achievement for the Titanic team.” Husbands himself is particularly proud of the international visitorship the centre receives. He added, “Visitors are coming because they want not only to know more about the ship, and in some circumstances the film, but they are also drawn to the story by the authenticity of the site.” Coincidentally, the 500,000th visitor was Lynda Price, great-granddaughter of a Harland and Wolff shipyard worker. She was thrilled to finally visit Titanic Belfast: “It’s incredible. Such a beautiful place and the exhibits are fascinating.”
