Tourism Ireland Showcases Irish Tourist Attractions To Scottish Citizens

Five tourism companies from Ireland joined Tourism Ireland in showcasing the country's tourist attractions to potential visitors from Scotland this week at the Royal Highland Show in Edinburgh.

The Royal Highland Show is Scotland’s largest outdoor event, attracting more than 187,000 visitors over four days, thereby providing an ideal forum for exhibiting what Ireland has to offer to Scottish holidaymakers.

Tourism Ireland’s head of Great Britain, Julie Wakley, stated, “Great Britain is an important market for tourism to the island of Ireland. It delivers 47% of all overseas visitors and around 30% of all overseas tourism revenue. Tourism Ireland is undertaking an extensive programme of promotions throughout 2017 to highlight Ireland to British travellers. We continue to monitor developments around Brexit closely, to better understand and plan for its implications on travel. Competitiveness and value for money are more important than ever this year, given currency fluctuations and the decline in the value of sterling.”
