Travelodge Launches Its First Ever 'Premium Economy' Rooms

Low cost hotel company Travelodge has announced the launch of its first ever premium economy rooms, which will offer guests a variety of facilities not available in the group's standard rooms.

These will include a branded coffee machine, a three-jet shower, ambient mood lighting, a larger desk and a chocolate bar.

According to The Belfast Telegraph, upgrading to these so-called "SuperRooms" rooms will cost patrons an extra £10 - £20 per night.

Travelodge chief executive Peter Gowers proclaimed that the "new SuperRoom adds an extra choice for customers who are spending more time working in the room, are staying longer or who just value that little bit more comfort."

More than half of Travelodge's sales are now facilitated by business customers and Gowers went on to state that "For British businesses, the days of extravagance on expenses are long behind us", adding that the company seeks to bring the same option to hotel guests as airlines offer to their passengers with premium economy cabins that bridge the gap between "traditional economy class" and "expensive business class".

Travelodge will launch 1,000 SuperRooms later this year and is expected to invest about £5 million in the venture. The company currently runs over 540 hotels across the UK, Ireland and Spain.
