UK Restaurant Group To Open In Dublin; South William Street Restaurant Building Sold

UK restaurant group COSMO is to open a 280-seater restaurant on the second floor of Dublin's Liffey Valley shopping centre early next month resulting in the creation of 60 jobs, reports Dublinlive.ie.

Described as 'East Meets West', the chain serves over 150 authentic global dishes buffet-style at live cooking stations. It has 16 branches across the UK, a Belfast branch, and further openings are planned for Leeds and Liverpool, as well as two additional Dublin restaurants over the next 18 months.

"This is another welcome investment in Liffey Valley, creating jobs for local people and families throughout the west Dublin area. This investment and creation of such a large number of new jobs shows great confidence in the area. I wish the management and staff the best of success, in particular in the build up to Christmas, which is always a popular time to enjoy a meal out with friends and family," said Tánaiste Frances Fitzgerald.

Bock Liang, regional director of COSMO, commented: "We spent about six years looking for a suitable location and are delighted that finally we will be opening the doors in a few weeks’ time. It’s a very exciting time of expansion for the COSMO Restaurant group, with more new openings in the UK and we are also planning more Dublin locations in the city centre and South Dublin in the next 18 months."

Meanwhile, on Dublin's South William Street, Eden Bar & Grill has been sold to a private investor for €2 million, reports The Irish Times. The two-storey 100-seater restaurant, which is rented by Jay Bourke on a 20-year lease at a rent of €120,000 per annum, had been put up for sale by CBRE with a guide price of €2.2 million.
