Aer Lingus Announces Three New US Routes

Aer Lingus has made its first major expansion since its €1.4 billion takeover by IAG, announcing three new routes from Dublin to the US.

The airline will start new daily routes from Dublin to Newark in New Jersey, and to Hartford in Connecticut while a new Dublin to Los Angeles service will fly five times a week.

The new destinations marks the largest expansion of the airline's transatlantic routes since 1958, and the carrier will create 200 extra jobs in the process.

Aer Lingus now has 12 US routes, and its long haul seat capacity will grow by more than 17 per cent next year.

Aer Lingus chief executive Stephen Kavanagh said: "The introduction of these three routes will open up new tourism and business opportunities with improved connectivity through our Dublin Gateway. We look forward to welcoming guests on board our new services in 2016."
