Wedding Favourite Aherlow House Hotel Sold

A popular Co.Tipperary hotel that recently made headlines after closing its doors leaving a reported 43 wedding bookings in limbo has been saved after it was bought out of receivership.

Aherlow House Hotel, located in the Galtee Mountains, has been bought by hotel operator Adrian Shanagher from receivers Grant Thornton.

The Irish Independent reports that the new owners have bought the hotel as a going concern, adding that Shanagher has agreed to honour the weddings that have already been booked at the hotel and offer "full credit" against deposits that had already been paid. The hotel looks set to re-open on 3 March.

The wedding couples, who had paid deposits of up to €3,000, were left looking for a new wedding venue when the hotel closed on 9 February, costing a reported 25 jobs and leaving 43 couples without a wedding venue.
