Wetherspoon Seeking New Sites In Ireland

Following last week's news that Wetherspoon intends to accelerate the expansion of its operations in Ireland with the opening of pubs in Carlow and on Camden Street in Dublin next year, the pub group has now announced that it is looking for additional sites in the country as a result of the "great success" it is experiencing with the five venues it currently operates in the Republic.

As reported by The Irish Independent, Wetherspoon chairman Tim Martin said, "We have enjoyed great success with our existing five pubs in the Republic of Ireland, and are pleased that we now have three new sites in development. We will continue to look for other sites."

Planned Pubs

Aside from the aforementioned venues in Carlow and on Camden Street, Wetherspoon has also announced an investment of €4 million in the development of a pub on the capital's Lower Abbey Street, which it intends to title The Silver Penny and open in May of 2019.
