Marriott Purchase of Starwood Gets Chinese Regulatory Approval

Marriott International’s acquisition of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide got antitrust approval from Chinese regulators, clearing the way for the deal to be completed.

Approval from the Chinese Ministry of Commerce was the final regulatory hurdle for the merger, which will create the world’s largest hotel company, the companies said in a statement Tuesday.

The transaction is expected to be completed before the US stock market opens on Friday.
