Diageo will part-fund a national campaign to fight binge drinking, being led by Barnardos chief executive Fergus Finlay.
According to the Irish Times, Diageo will have no creative control over the campaign, and Finlay denied that the drinks giant could use it as a platform to promote their products.
“This won’t happen if it is influenced by the drinks industry. That’s the only basis on which it can work,” he said.
The exact details of the campaign have not yet been released but it is expected to involve prominent people concerned with "out-of-control" drinking in Ireland.
