Cliff House Hotel Bartender Wins Silver At World Cocktail Championships

Ariel Sanecki, senior bartender at Co Waterford's Cliff House Hotel, has won a silver medal in the 'Bartenders Choice' competition at the World Cocktail Championships 2016.

The competition, which was held in Tokyo's Imperial Hotel, saw Sanecki win with his 'Elegance' cocktail made from Finlandia vodka, elderflower liqueur, lime juice, pink grapefruit, peach syrup and sprayed with Irish whiskey vapour, reports Bartender.ie.

'Bartenders Choice' is designed to be less restrictive than the other competitions, allowing mixologists to be more creative and incorporate different designs and trends into their cocktails. Sanecki took inspiration from the head chef at the five-star Cliff House Hotel, creating a cocktail that tasted great whilst also being visually appealing.

The overall winner of the 'Bartenders Choice' was Milos Janosevic from Serbia, while the World Cocktail Championships crowned Japan's Kenji Tsubokura Bartender of the Year 2016.
