Jamie Oliver Calls For Sugar To Be Labelled In Teaspoons On Fizzy Drinks

Celebrity chef Jamie Oliver is urging the British government to take action to raise awareness about the sugar content in carbonated soft drinks.

As reported by packagingnews.co.uk, Oliver stated that some fizzy drinks contain up to 14 spoons of sugar per bottle.

In a bid to fight the rising issue of obesity, Oliver recently took various carbonated drink bottles and labelled them with their sugar content in teaspoons, before presenting them to the Health Select Committee.

Oliver has previously challenegd the UK's junk-food culture in a number of ways in recent years, including his formal campaign to ban unhealthy food in British schools, which was detailed in the series Jamie's School Dinners.
