Study Reveals Most Popular Spanish Wine Regions

Consultant company Castro Galiana has published its annual report on Spanish wine, identifying the seven most popular regions in the country.

The most popular Spanish wine regions have been revealed as Ribera del Duero, Rueda, Rioja, Cava, Rías Baixas, Penedés and Jeréz.

The study examined not only which wine regions are the most recognized by consumers, but also which ones have the biggest media presence.

According to ElnortedeCastilla.es, Castro Galiana's research included the analysis of 17,668 articles, written by 917 different authors, published in 94 daily newspapers and 52 magazines.

Interestingly, the study found that several historical wine regions accounted for between 70 to 90 per cent of mentions in their local media reports, but were unable to gain a significant presence in national media, or even in neighbouring regions.
