The Febvreuary Success Story Rolls On

Febvre's Febvreuary wine roadshow continues over the next two weeks after already witnessing an abundance of highlights.

The last week started when Louis Fabrice Latour, the 11th generation of this famous wine family, hosted an amazing vertical tasting of Corton Charlemagne Grand Cru and Château Corton Grancey Grand Cru in Dublin.

On show were the 2012, 2011, 2009 and 2008 vintages, with the majority in attendance in agreement that the star of the tasting was 2009, in both wines.

This was followed by an open tasting of the wines of Latour, Maison Simmonet-Febvre, Chablis; Henry Fessy, Beaujolais hosted by Louis Fabrice.

Tomas Clancy will be writing about the event in the Sunday Business Post, where you can read all about this successful visit.

Last Monday was ‘Meet the French Day’, and the French theme has continued around the country all week with the build up to the rugby clash on Saturday with Ireland meeting France in the Aviva Stadium.

There was a bevy of wine producers in Dublin hosting an open tasting including Etienne Defosse, Champagne Deutz and Delas Freres, Rhone Valle; Clare Burke, Ets. Jean Pierre Moueix, Bordeaux; Jean Philippe Archambaud, Maison Simmonet Febvre, Chablis; Henry Fessy, Beaujolais; Pascal Shiel, Gustave Lorentz, Alcase and Arnaud Irigaray, François Lurton.

Febvre portfolio tastings together with selected wine-makers went on the road to Omagh, Derry, Belfast, Tralee, and Killarney before the French guests travelled home.

Week three start early next week with a Febvre tasting and lunch in Greenacres in Wexford, hosted by Dante Cecchini, of Castello Banfi from Tuscany.
