Wine Australia Launches The Wine Bar At Largest ProWein Stand

Wine Australia returns to ProWein in Düsseldorf with its largest-ever stand and even more events including a new feature - The Wine Bar - to showcase the diversity of Australian wine.

Following a very successful ProWein 2017, Wine Australia has an even bigger presence in 2018. With 20% more space than last year, the Australian stand features 75 wineries and over 500 wines, as well as an educational and events area, and new tasting zone, The Wine Bar.

With 14 events running on the stand (Hall 9, F06 and F02) plus a Green Australia master class in the Forum (Hall 10) and two Semillon tastings with the WSET (Hall EN, Stand 05), there are many opportunities to explore the breadth and depth of Australian wine.

Covering cool climate regions, Iberian varieties, old vines, and organic and biodynamic winemaking amongst other topics, the events will be hosted by Wine Australia’s Mark Davidson and industry experts including Sarah Ahmed, Thomas Curtius and Phil Reedman MW. Highlights include Mornington Peninsula and New England tastings as this will be the first time that these regions will be showcased at ProWein.

All the wines featured in events will be available to taste at The Wine Bar, the new free-pour tasting area in the centre of the stand. Visitors keen to make new discoveries and taste regional diversity can pop by the bar anytime, or visit between 1pm - 2pm for a tutored tasting with Mark Davidson who’ll be sharing the stories behind the wines.

On the stand, there will be over 80 winemakers and winery principals including James Lindner (Langmeil Winery), Kim Longbottom (Henry’s Drive), Matt Fowles (Fowles Wine), Mike Brown (Gemtree Organic & Biodynamic Wines) and Scott McWilliam (McWilliam’s Family Winemakers). Wine Australia’s general manager marketing Stuart Barclay will also be joining the Wine Australia UK and Europe team on the stand.

Barclay commented, "ProWein is one of the biggest and most important events in Wine Australia's global calendar. It's a key opportunity to showcase our wines on an international stage and engage with buyers and influencers from across the world.

"With a larger stand, broad range of producers, busy programme of events and new feature The Wine Bar, there are lots of reasons to visit Wine Australia at ProWein. We look forward to sharing our fine wines with visitors and demonstrating how diverse, vibrant and exciting Australian wine is."

ProWein 2018 is held in Düsseldorf, Germany, from March 18 - 20. The Wine Australia stand is in the New World hall - Hall 9, Stand F06. Australia’s growing presence at ProWein is in line with the country’s growing exports: global exports increased by 15% to AUD $2.56 billion in the 12 months ending December 2017.

Registration for events is not required, however early arrival is recommended as spaces are limited.
