The third week of FEBVREUARY starts today (22 February) with Jan Konetzki, head sommelier for Gordon Ramsay, joined with Febvre wines to host an enlightening discussion on “How to shake up your Wine List”.
As 2015 Winner of “Imbibe Wine List of the Year Award”, he shared this experience with Sommeliers and Food and Beverage Managers about knowing your customers and marrying that with bringing personality into the wine list so that you can advise your regular customers informatively on the perfect food and wine match.
On Tuesday 22nd, TV & Michelin Star Chef Enrique Fleischmann from Basque Culinary School cooked some sensational dishes perfectly matched by award-winning wines from Conde De Valdemar. One attendee voiced his satisfaction by saying: “This Febvreuary month has been the best February of my life, thank you”.
On Wednesday 23rd, Award-winning winemaker, Retamal Marcelo from De Martino, Chile, wowed his audience by bringing his audience through long lost vineyards which he rediscovered after more than 300 years following 20 years of discovery. He brought them through the journey of rediscovery and they sampled some stunning wines from this interesting terroir, using traditional methods, which will arrive in Ireland during the next few months.
As we approach the last week of FEBVREUARY 2016, there are more exciting offers for next week. On Monday 22nd Richard Halstead, COO of Wine Intelligence UK, will give us a glimpse into the future when he hosts a workshop on ‘2016 Global Trends’ based on their recently published research. This will be followed by a tasting with David Baverstock, Chief Winemaker at Esporao Wines, Alentejo, Portugal.
Tastings of ‘21 Wines, 21 Days’ will continue to the end of the month each day at Febvre’s headquarters in Sandyford.
Herve Robert of Delas Wines from the Rhône will host a tasting and lunch in Kilkenny on Wednesday 24th.
A most interesting and unusual event takes place on Wednesday 24th with a comparison tasting of wines by Delas Freres from Northern and Southern Rhône side by side with the Rhône style wines by D’Arenberg from the McLaren Vale in Australia. This live Skype tasting will be hosted by Herve Robert of Delas wines from Dublin while Chester Osburn of D’Arenberg wines will be beamed live from Australia.
On Thursday 25th Isabel Monteiro from Warre’s Port will host a very special vertical tasting of Warre’s Quinta da Cavadinha to include six vintages between 1992 and 2012, including the 2001 vintage which recently won the Gold Medal in the International Wine Challenge 2015.
On Monday 29th, Febvre will be featuring wines of Cakebread, Seqoia Grove and Bezinger at Wines of California Tasting which will bring FEBVREUARY promotions for 2016 to a fitting conclusion.
