Commerical Air Passenger Numbers To Rise To Almost 8 Billion By 2036

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) estimates that about 7.8 billion people will travel with commercial airlines in 2036, nearly doubling the 4 billion who are expected to take to the skies in 2018.

According to The Belfast Telegraph, the IATA believes that the Asia-Pacific region will be responsible for more than half of the extra international travelers expected to take flight over the next 19 years.

Furthermore, the IATA expects that China will overtake the US to become the planet's largest aviation market by 2022. The organization also predicts that China will handle approximately 1.5 billion passengers in 2036, up almost a billion from this year's 571 million.

Meanwhile, the IATA foresees that America will handle 1.1 billion air travelers in 2036, with the UK dropping to being the fifth largest air passenger market after it's surpassed by India in 2025 and then again by Indonesia in 2030. Europe, on the other hand, should reportedly experience yearly passenger growth of approximately 2.3% to see 1.5 billion passengers traveling across the continent by 2036.
