Conference Boost For Dublin Tourism

Fáilte Ireland has confirmed that Dublin has received a revenue boost to the tune of almost €5 million with the news that four conferences have been confirmed for the capital so far this year.

The conferences include the World Institute of PainEuropean, Cities Marketing TIO Expert Meeting, Junior Chambers International European Presidents Meeting and the World Congress of Psycho Oncology.

This news comes as the business tourism industry from across the capital gathered in the Conference Centre Dublin recently for an annual briefing from Fáilte Ireland where the tourism authority outlined their plans and targets for the year ahead. Business of over €138 million is already confirmed for 2016 with a further €52.5 million still in the pipeline, said Fáilte Ireland.

Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport Paschal Donohoe, said: “I am delighted with the news that Dublin continues to attract high profile lucrative conferences to these shores.  Business tourism is a very valuable part of our overall tourism product and performs well year on year. The fact that those who come here on business more often than not choose to stay on for pleasure makes it even more important.”
