Edinburgh Secures Delta JFK Flights to Complete US Lineup

Delta Air Lines said it will fly to Edinburgh from New York John F. Kennedy airport starting 27 May next year, completing the Scottish hub’s lineup of major US carriers.

The service will operate daily with 163-seat Boeing co. 757 jets and comes after American Airlines Group commenced JFK flights this spring. United Continental Holdings already serves Edinburgh from Newark, New Jersey, and its Chicago base.

Edinburgh had targeted Delta as its next long-haul carrier, Gordon Dewar, the airport’s chief executive officer, said in a June interview. The JFK flight offers connections to 60 cities including Las Vegas, Los Angeles and San Francisco, Orlando and Miami, the Atlanta-based airline said in a statement Tuesday.

Delta will also add flights from London Heathrow airport to Salt Lake City, which becomes its eighth US destination served from Europe’s busiest hub. The seasonal route starting 2 May will use Boeing 210-seat 767-300ER jets.
