Fáilte Ireland Hosts Workshop To Pitch Ireland To Overseas Travel Agents

Fáilte Ireland hosted the first in a series of custom-made workshops yesterday (Monday September 18) as part of a targeted 2018 sales drive to enable Irish tourism operators to pitch directly to the cream of the global travel industry. The event, which was entitled the "Great Britain Coach and Group Workshop", took place in County Mayo's Hotel Westport and was attended by a group of key British travel agents.

Over the next few weeks, in excess of 200 Irish tourism businesses will engage in over 10,000 one-to-one meetings with approximately 100 important British, Canadian and long haul tour operators at workshops hosted by Fáilte Ireland in partnership with overseas marketing agency Tourism Ireland.

Speaking at yesterday's inaugural workshop, Fáilte Ireland's Head of International Trade, Ciara Sugrue, explained, “This series of sales workshops will focus on attracting more overseas visitors from our key UK and Canadian markets as well as long haul visitors travelling via the UK. In terms of Britain, the workshops are part of Fáilte Ireland’s focus to continue pitching for the best British potential and off-set the challenges of Brexit. With regards to Canada, the sales drive seeks to capitalise on increased air access into Ireland and to develop opportunities for long haul destinations to include Ireland as a holiday experience."
