Unions At Iarnród Éireann Still Dissatisfied

Unions at Iarnród Éireann have warned that the recent industrial action could be repeated in the upcoming weeks.

Members of the National Bus and Railworkers Union (NBRU) and Siptu yesterday held signs at rail stations and depots around the country in protest at the decision by management at Iarnród Éireann to apply temporary pay cuts for staff ranging from 1.6 per cent to 6 per cent.

The cuts, which were introduced on Sunday, are planned to run for 28 months.

The NBRU's general secretary, Dermot O’Leary, said yesterday that it already had a mandate from members for an all-out strike, if such a measure is deemed necessary.
