Irish Air Traffic Up 5.5% In April

The State's regulator has revealed statistics stating that upwards of 94,300 aircraft crossed the Republic's airspace or landed/took off from its airports last month.

The Irish Aviation Authority announced on Wednesday May 10 that the total air traffic they handled increased by 5.5% to 94,316 aircraft in April, which is an average of more than 3,143 aerial vehicles per day, reports The Irish Times.

Flights between the US and Europe were also up 5.5% on April of last year, while flights that enter Irish airspace without landing saw an increase of 5.4% to 28,738.

The authority further stated that figures for six of the country's ten airport pairs grew last month, with the biggest growth being for Amsterdam Schiphol-Dublin, which was saw an increase of 43.7%.
