Kale + Coco Cafe In Dublin 7 To Close

Kale + Coco, the popular vegetarian cafe located in Stoneybatter, will close on Sunday.

The owners made the announcement on Instagram in recent days, writing, ‘I’d like to thank all of our amazing customers for your support over the past six and a half years, from our humble beginnings as a pop-up and event trader to finding our brick & mortar home in Dublin 7, we wouldn’t have made it this far without you.’

Health And Wellness

The owners, Jenny and Rebecca, were inspired to open the cafe after travelling together through Central and South America, New Zealand, Australia and Asia in 2015, spending a large amount of time searching for the best food that they could find.

After returning, they were not satisfied with the idea of going back to their corporate lives and took a keen interest in watching Dublin’s health-and-wellness scene grow to rival that of other leading cities around the world.

Kale + Coco was their way of contributing to that growth, by bringing ‘a little taste of the tropics to Ireland’.

Smoothie Bowl Bar

In particular, Jenny and Rebecca recognised kale as one of the great superfoods, but also one of Ireland’s most widely available and commonly grown crops.

The cafe was known for becoming Ireland’s first smoothie bowl bar.

‘Lovely Home’

‘We would love for you to swing by the cafe for one last time to enjoy some great coffee, the best açaí in Ireland and some nutritious nourish bowls and to say goodbye to our lovely little oasis on Grangegorman Lower,’ wrote the team on Instagram.

‘A new business will be moving in in the new year. I hope the Stoneybatter community will welcome them with open arms and I wish them the very best of luck in what’s been our lovely home for the past (almost) 5 years!’
