Kilkenny Craft And Design Plans To Add 10 New Shops

Irish craft and design retailer Kilkenny is planning to add 10 stores to its chain over the next five years. This is in response to its growth in sales and the decrease in the cost of rent for new outlets.

Kilkenny has just opened in the Pavilions in Swords, Co Dublin and will soon add another outlet at the Whitewater Shopping Centre in Newbridge, Co Kildare. These have created 60 jobs to bring its total employment level to about 250. It is extremely popular among tourists.

The company also intends to open 8 retail stores and 2 warehouses by 2018 which will involve an investment of more than €1 million.

The retailer has also invested considerably in its flagship store on Nassau Street with a €500,000 refurbishment of its restaurant.

Kilkenny has signed an agreement with global online giant Ebay to offer its goods to a wider audience. “This partnership will allow us to reach a mass market and means Irish designs will be available to a much wider consumer audience,” said Kilkenny chief-executive Marion O’Gorman.

Kilkeeny has also added stores in Douglas, Co. Cork, Stillorgan, Co. Dublin and Trim, Co. Meath.
