New Routes From UK Expected To Boost Tourism

Extras links from Shannon Airport to the UK have been created recently which means the region is well-prepared for British tourists in the upcoming weeks.

Tourism Ireland indicated that Britain is the most challenged of Ireland's traditional tourism markets. However, with the success of The Gathering and the recent economic recovery, the Irish Hoteliers Federation are feeling optimistic.

"The new Bristol route is good news for the wider Shannon catchment area and comes on the heels of recent announcements by Ryanair and United Airlines," Matt Muller, chairman of the IHF Shannon branch, told the Limerick Leader.

"These additional air services will help build on the gains made this year during the The Gathering, which has been a success for the wider Shannon area. We look forward to working with Tourism Ireland and Shannon Airport to ensure the potential of these new routes is fully maximised."
