Passenger Numbers Down At Aer Lingus

Aer Lingus passenger numbers fell by 2.5% to hit 868,000 in April 2013 when compared with the same period in 2012. The airline has attributed the fall to the timing of the Easter Bank Holiday weekend, which fell at the end of March this year, rather than in the first week of April, as was the case in 2012. Short haul passenger numbers were down by 4.2%.

However, it wasn't all bad news for the carrier: long haul passenger figures were up 6.3% in April while Aer Lingus Regional, which is operated by Aer Arann, enjoyed continued growth with passenger numbers up 5.1% to 83,000 in the month.
