Flying High: Ryanair Almost Nation's Most Valuable Company

After another rise in its share price, Ryanair has moved even closer to becoming Ireland's biggest company.

CRH holds the top spot at present, though at one point yesterday, in terms of market capitalisation, it and the airline were only €400 million apart (the values were €14.4 billion and €14 billion respectively).

The jump came as Ryanair increased capacity by 10.4 per cent last month compared to a year earlier, but crucially, its load factor jumped by seven percentage points to 88 per cent in the period.

Ryanair now expects to make a profit of between €810 million and €830 million in the current financial year (compared to the €750 million to €770 million it had previously forecast).

It has of late been targeting business travellers on seminal routes such as the Dublin to Brussels Zaventem one, which was operated solely by Aer Lingus in the recent past.
