The Gathering Wins At Samsung Digital Media Awards

Ireland’s best and brightest from the world of digital media were celebrated at the 2014 Samsung Digital Media Awards last night. Today FM broadcaster Anton Savage hosted the event, which saw The Gathering Ireland campaign scoop the Grand Prix Award (sponsored by Samsung).

The Gathering initiative also took home the top prize in the Best Travel and Tourism category of the Samsung Digital Media Awards. Judges said that "people & communities around Ireland were energised and inspired to take part in the Gathering through multiple digital channels".

With regard the hospitality sector, another notable winner on the night was Molson Coors, who won best app for mobile or tablet with their "How Mobile First Drove Men To Coors Light" app.

ICAN won best agency (sponsored by Kantar Media), as well as best retail campaign for the Brown Thomas Sunglasses campaign and best integrated digital campaign (sponsored by Ad2One) for its work on Permanent tsb “Back to Basics”.

Dublin-based event video crowd-sourcing start-up, FanFootage, won the Trailblazer Award, in recognition of its work showcasing Ireland on the international digital stage. FanFootage has grown from a Dublin based tech start up, to a company whose technology is used in 16 different countries, over three continents, with fan videos capturing over 400 different performances from 147 different venues. Best Student Award (sponsored by Snap) was won by Gemma Lynch for Hayley, Layla and Globalisation, a cute animation that tells a charming story about the ever changing world we live in.
