Tourism Ireland Launches New Marketing Campaign In Germany

Tourism Ireland has kicked off its promotional drive for 2018 in the German market with a TV campaign which will be seen by millions of potential holiday-makers for Ireland.

The campaign will run until mid-February on popular German national and satellite television channels such as RTL, VOX, RTL Nitro, Sat.1, Kabel 1 and ARD, and will reach an estimated 17.2 million viewers. Additionally, a separate online video campaign will reach almost 4 million people, via popular travel and news websites.

The videos will highlight the wide variety of things to see and do in Ireland, including the Wild Atlantic Way, Northern Ireland, Ireland’s Ancient East, the country's food offerings, outdoor activities, car touring, Dublin, Belfast and the Waterford Greenway.

Germany is the third-largest market for tourism to Ireland and 2017 was another record year for visitors from Germany, with approximately 660,000 German residents journeying to Ireland. In 2018, Tourism Ireland aims to grow German visitor numbers by 8%.

Commenting on the rise of German visitor numbers last year, Tourism Ireland’s manager for Central Europe, Zoë Redmond, said, “2017 was the seventh consecutive year of growth for German visitor numbers to the island of Ireland, when we welcomed around 660,000 German visitors. Our TV campaign kick-starts another extensive and targeted programme of activity in Germany for 2018 to keep the momentum going and build on the growth of the past few years.”
