Tourism Minister Thanks Lucasfilm For Star Wars Tourism

Tourism Minister Brendan Griffin was in California earlier this week as part of the "Promote Ireland" programme around St Patrick's Day. His busy schedule included a meeting with Lucasfilm executives in San Francisco, where he thanked them for filming the two most recent Star Wars films in Ireland. Tourism Ireland also arranged for Minister Griffin to meet with leading travel trade, travel media and airline contacts, during his time in California.

"I was delighted to visit the Lucasfilm studios and to have the opportunity to personally thank the executives there for working with us on the two most recent Star Wars films”, said Tourism Minister Brendan Griffin. “I wanted to assure them of a very warm welcome, should they ever decide to return to Ireland, and, of course, that every effort will be made to facilitate them.

“I am extremely grateful to Lucasfilm – particularly for their tremendous generosity in agreeing to make several wonderful behind-the-scenes films for Tourism Ireland, around Episodes VII and VIII. Those films have been seen by millions of people around the world – whetting peoples' appetites to come and visit Kerry, the Wild Atlantic Way and Ireland."
